FAQs

  • A comprehensive psychoeducational assessment may be appropriate for your child if you have concerns about a possible learning disability, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder, general learning difficulties, intellectual disability, anxiety, depression, etc.

  • A comprehensive evaluation is much more in depth and includes direct assessment of your student’s academic, cognitive, and emotional (if needed) strengths and challenges. We will connect with your student’s educators and any relevant doctors or outside providers to get a full picture of their needs. A comprehensive assessment can lead to a diagnosis that can be a useful tool in getting your student’s needs met. You will be provided with a detailed report with a diagnosis (if applicable), a clear breakdown of your student’s strengths and weaknesses, and useful specific recommendations for helping your student succeed.

Our individual services and screenings are more brief and focus on a specific area of concern i.e. academics, cognitive ability, or social emotional functioning. We also do screenings for autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) which will help determine the likelihood that your student has one of these disabilities but will not result in a diagnosis, as a comprehensive evaluation is needed for all diagnostics. Individual services will include a brief written report.

  • We work with school age students from TK through graduate school.

  • Observing students in their learning environment gives valuable insight into how their personal strengths and weaknesses manifest in the classroom setting and impact educational access. Observing in the school setting also allows us to see specific areas of need to address in our recommendations. Furthermore, classroom observations allow us to learn about the student’s educational setting. In some cases observation in the school setting may not be appropriate, especially for older students.
